Goldfish Project
Over Christmas vacation, I came up with the idea to redo Ryan's bathroom with a goldfish fabric that I had found this summer. I told my mom my idea and also told her that I would like to make a hooded towel for Ryan that looked like a goldfish. My mom took on the towel project and I sewed the new shower curtain. Now all I need is bath towels that match.
Ryan calls his hooded towel his hat.

Morro Bay
This past weekend, we went to Morro Bay and took Ryan to the beach. He adores sand. When he stepped out onto the beach, he froze, looked around to take it in, then laid down and started making sand angels. He picked up fist fulls of sand and let each grain trickle through his fingers.
If it were up to Ryan, he would never set foot inside. He loves the outdoors and enjoys getting absolutely filthy. Rocks and dirt are treasures that he likes to share with Mommy and Daddy.
Ryan also picked up several new words while at the beach. He would point to his t-shirt and say, "hawk," which means, "shark." To add to his delight, we took him to the little aquarium in MB where there were little sharks in the tanks. He pointed to every tank and asked to see the,"hawks."

Ryan's other new word that he learned was, "boats," pronounced, "bopes." He loved to stand out on my grandma's balcony and talk about the, "bopes," in the bay.
The weather the whole weekend couldn't have been better. Phil captured this perfect moment.

Rita Post Surgery
Here are a few photos of Rita post surgery. Today she had to go back to the vet for a cone. She kept licking her stitches and started pulling them out. The vet had previously said that she might need a second surgery because her leg was sticking out sideways, but after the vet saw it today, she was pretty sure a second surgery would not be necessary. We'll find out for sure on Monday when the vet takes her stitches out.

Poor Rita!
About a week ago, Phil and I heard a cat yowling in the yard, so we let Rita out to chase it away. We heard her skittering paws on the cement and the sounds of a cat's screeching meows. We were feeling proud of our protective little dog when suddenly, we heard a terrible yelping and crying coming from Rita so we ran to the back door. Poor Rita limped inside. I searched her paws and legs, but could find no injury. We decided to wait it out and see if Rita's conditioned improved as she has a tendency to be a baby about things. Since we saw no real improvement, we made an appointment with the vet. Phil took her to the vet this evening and it turns out she has a torn ligament and will require surgery. I felt so sorry for my poor little sedated dog as Phil put her limp little body into my arms this evening. She is snuggling on the couch with me right now. She did have the energy to get up and beg for some meat at dinner time so I know she's coming around. Her surgery is scheduled for Monday morning. I hope everything goes well.

My Latest Project
This weekend Phil, Ryan, and I went to Morro Bay. On Saturday morning, we had a rain storm and we were stuck in the condo all day. I went to the Cotton Ball with my mom to do a little fabric shopping. My mom pointed out some black and white giraffe skin print upholstery that was great and inspired me to make a purse out of it. I found a pattern for a tote bag and went back to the condo to sew. This purse has consumed most of my energy this weekend, but I was determined to finish it because tomorrow I go back to work and will not have any time to sew anything. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, especially at a distance where I can't see any of my mistakes. Anyway, here is a picture of my work.
